(1) 製法
The manufacture of leather (1920), P362
やや厚めの防水加工された革で、ゴルフや狩猟用ブーツに使われる。シボ付けされたマット仕上げ。Zug（スコットランドにあった W&J Martin の商標）とBeva（イングランドにあった William Paul の商標）に代表される。
中和し、水絞りをし、伸ばした後、革50kgに対して、ニーツフットオイル１kgと柔らかい石鹸１kgで加脂する。ドラムで約30分加脂した後、漉く。
銀面側のみを黒く染める。水100に対して、ログウッド液を５、オウボク液を１、少々のアンモニアを混ぜた液を銀面に塗り、しばらくしたら、水100に対して、硫酸第一鉄を３、硫酸銅を1/2混ぜた液を上塗りし、最後に、暖かい水を塗って絞る。
次に、水24リットル、ニーツフットオイル２kg、柔らかい石鹸１kg、卵黄５つを混ぜた乳濁液で再加脂し、最低でも24時間浸透させる。
この段階で革は十分柔らかくなるので、ステーキングマシンで繊維を揉みほぐす必要は無い。八方揉みをして、丸いシボ付けをする。
仕上げに、蜜蝋60g、柔らかい石鹸120g、ニーツフットオイル120g、水１リットルを混ぜた物を温めて銀面に塗り、2～3日寝かせる。ブラッシングして完成する。亜麻仁油、または、亜麻仁油と鉱物油を同量混ぜたものでオイルがけすることもある。
現行は Horween or Weinheimer。
